Title: Stalling when putting it in gear
Post by TaunusRS on Oct 15th, 2008, 9:02am
Hi,
I'm the owner of a Cortina Mk5 with a BOA 24v cosworth engine.
The car also has an autobox from a 24v.
Recently the car almost stalls when i put it in a gear.
Rpm drops till 500 and the car starts to shake.
In neutral the rpm is 900 but occasionally the engine shakes a little. We switched the tps and Air mas meter to no effect.
When i disconnect any of the three sparkkabels from the righthand cylinderbank almost nothing happens, if done the same to the lefthand bank the car almost stalls.
Is this a common problem?
Cheers,
Sven

Sounds a bit like the trouble I have when trying to select reverse on a cold morning & as far as I know it is a problem with a sticking autobox solenoid.....not 100% sure though  :-/

hi there

also try posting to http://www.granada-and-scorpio-online.com
as they deal with  the BOA engine/gearbox (UK granada scorpio up to '95). we deal with the BOB engine/ fully electronic gearbox (scorpio from '95). not sure if the granada one is? :-/
