Post by sierra20 on Oct 15th, 2008, 3:40pm
Hi everyone, ive just bought a 2.3 ultima auto r reg, is a lovely car but there is one problem that i didnt notice when i test drove it, there is a small vibration on acceleration when the box changes to second between 20-30mph, after that it goes.

I have done some searching on this site but cant really find anything.
has anyone esle had this problem or have an idea what it could be?

i have read that about the cattle grid effect, but the vibration isnt violent and doesnt make a noise, and doesnt do it when changing down, only between 20 and 30mph in second
but i will try cleaning the maf,

is it constant if you remain at the same speed or does it just come and go?

Just wondering if its in the drive train somewhere, prop/Universal joint/cv joint

it comes only when accelerating from 20mph and continues when the box changes gear then stops when iit gets to 30mph, when i back off in that speed range the vibration goes but as soon as i accelerate again it comes back

Did you check the state of the doughnut on the front of the propshaft, think you need to move the heatshield first. It's worth a look.
