Title: Re: no a.m on stereo Post by lube-o-rific on Nov 18th, 2008, 7:33pm AM signals are picked up by a solenoid type aerial within the head unit itself. It could indicate an internal wiring failure of the unit. :) |

Title: Re: no a.m on stereo Post by rich1 on Nov 18th, 2008, 7:36pm when you say unit , do you mean the thing on the roof? would i still have the same problem if i bought a new stereo? btw , thanks for super quick reply :) |

Title: Re: no a.m on stereo Post by lube-o-rific on Nov 18th, 2008, 7:45pm By unit, I mean inside the stereo itself. AM signals are of a lower frequency and higher amplitude and longer wavelength than FM signals so require a small coil as an antenna. I new stereo should solve it. I'm not sure on how you would go about eliminating the fault other than having the stereo repaired or trying a different one. But I'd bet some ££s it's the stereo itself. |

Title: Re: no a.m on stereo Post by gozz on Nov 18th, 2008, 8:15pm lub-o-rific. It has always been my experience that I can receive FM signals through a rusty nail, but need a much longer aerial and even a signal amplifier to get AM,as I say this is my experience not radio expertise. GOZZ. |
