Title: Water Woes - Or lack of it. Post by bridgdav on Jan 14th, 2009, 10:11am I haven't used the car for over 3 weeks - during which time we've had the big freeze. I had to use the car yesterday - in a rush didn't do the usual checks etc. SO. Few miles down the road - Water light comes on - Slight Burning smell - Temp gauge normal. Pull over, Engine cuts out. Bonnet up - very hot. Put a couple of litres of water in, handy bottle in back. Comes straight out of the bottom.Steam, water and some Oil. From what I have read on here - I think the freeze has popped one of the Core Plugs off. Who knows where or when. Questions: Where are the plugs located on the 24V..(access)? Where can I get some if needed..? Has anybody had this..? Can it/they be replaced easily..? What checks should I do before running again..? I know I've been an Ar$e, but Hey Ho, too late now. TIA for advice. Dave :-[ |

Title: Re: Water Woes - Or lack of it. Post by bridgdav on Jan 14th, 2009, 5:28pm You will never guess - but I found it.. The bung that is.. I haven't had the chance to get the car in the air, but I hope its one of the side ones. Judging by the direction the water flooded out I'd say it was. Great pics...Thanks - Anyone know what the access is like to the sides..? At least if I can get that back in and do some sort of pressure test I'll have a better idea what its going to run like. Fingers crossed - Or it might be terminal. :-[ |

Title: Re: Water Woes - Or lack of it. Post by Snoopy on Jan 14th, 2009, 6:43pm They are usually a standard item.. You can get some sort of thread lock with which to fit them . fordpartsuk (http://fordpartsuk.com/) should be able to source them for you .. Trevor Porter is on the ball for spares. |
