Title: changing PAS fluid
Post by ohms on Jan 22nd, 2009, 4:26am
Hi all,

I have a 12v scorpio and wanted to change the PAS fluid. Has anybody ever done this before, and if so, whats the procedure for draining?

Thanks ;D

ohms.
There is little point in that operation, but to carry it out propererly the return pipe needs to be detached and arrangement made to catch the oil,the stub on the tank is best temporarily blanked off.The engine should be run until the tank is empty and the pump becomes noisy, then run another tank full through to remove all old   oil, connect the pipe up,fill the tank and run the engine moving the steering from lock to lock until all air is ejected.Job is best done with two people.

I have done it, I drained the tank first and blanked off the return refilled with new. I think I jacked up the front and went from lock to lock with the engine off and engine under tray removed and keep the return pipe as low as possible. With the engine running it will empty the tank in seconds and it wont get any out of the rack. Its a messy job but I think its worth it
