Title: help
Post by Firefox on Jan 25th, 2009, 3:04pm
Got a 16v 2l petrol manual Scorpio N reg. Was mis firing a bit this morning. Went and put fuel in and was running Ok. Just been out now and it wont start. Plenty of life in the battery but no spark. Had coils and wiring replaced 18 month ago. Any ideas please

Thanks
Kim

hi there

sounds like a sensor is playing up (crankshaft?)

i'd check all the connections are on and there's no dampness in the wiring.

Yup, I would plump for the CPS sensor too (Crankshaft Position Sensor)
These do tend to fail without warning, and not just on the Scorpio either. I have friends who own Jaguars that have had similar trouble. :(

Have a read of This page (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/16vlooms.htm) and scroll down through the list of sensors then locate the relevant number on the engine diagram to see its general location. ;)
