Title: wiring testing
Post by eff511 on Feb 17th, 2009, 2:44pm
hiya all still got problems the main question being i have three wires going to my crankshaft sensor (1998 2.5 td auto scorpio) and i have a voltage at all three of 0.12 v at one and 0.02 v at the other two this was carried out to check crank sensor as i had two codes of p0725 and p1226 knowing one was related to the crank sensor but i allways thought one of the three cables was power (true voltage supply i do not know) one earth and the other the return pip signal does anyone know either where i am going wrong on my testing or where else to go looking in the wiring loom for faults the wire colours at the plug are 2 black and green and 1 white and green cheers kev

Have a look at the wiring Diagrams that might help details of what you want are on Page 2 Of THIS (http://cid-eb36f845ea9b8fb6.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/WIRING%20DIAGRAMS/ENGINE%20CONTROL%202-9%2024V%20EFI%20IGNITION.pdf) document

quite informative snoopy but what i was really hoping for was some schematic diagrams so i could trace all wiring instead of opening the whole loom up

I don’t know anything about this but looking at the diagram posted by Snoopy entitled ENGINE CONTROL 2.5TDI AUTO.pdf
I assume it’s what’s called the engine speed sensor on page 4.
If it is (right coloured wires) the 2 BK/GN wires interconnect within the sensor.
The WH/GN goes to pin 8 of the PCM.

I would expect it to generate power, not be fed, but only guessing.
