Those codes aren't on the Scorpio site,
according to Haynes
P0xxx are generic
P1xxx are manufacturer specific

I had a quick Google for Ford codes
P1225 showed as Needle lift sensor malfunction

Someone on one of the forums suggested it was to do with the throttle position sensor

(On a VW site they say bad earth but of course being the wrong manufacturer that probably isn't valid)

the codes are now clear but it is still in limp mode the next step is to check the maf sensor then the map sensor but if no luck get shot of as i have now bought a rover 825 sd (same engine) and my last one is still going strong with over 600k miles on the clock with less electrical gremlins but not the same luxury cheers kev

i would not have thought an egr valve would put it in limp mode  but i have cleaned it out as a precaution and done a vac test on it and even blanked it off all to no avail i am totally stumped on this one as it now shows no fault codes after clearing the 3 i found which were p0725 p1225 and p1226

I must have missed this one, the symptoms you describe can be caused by a faulty fuel sensor, the sensor is built into the front injector, you can see a single black wire running from it, quite difficult to obtain second hand, I got mine from a Cherokee

and i have a spare injector with the black wire attached
change the fuel filter to this can cause the same problem i have had it to and it was indeed the fuel filer car would start but would not rev worth a monkeys
