Title: Locked keys in ignition Post by johnofleeds on Feb 27th, 2009, 7:58pm Hello for the first time, Forum we have a problem-Battery went flat then tried to jump from an external battery but when connected the leads the central locking locked me out with the keys in the ignition.Only 1 key no spare.Contacted benfield ford in Leeds and they said cannot get a spare without the origonal owners name and address.I don't think it is dead bolted so how can I get in without smashing a window? thanks john |

Title: Re: Locked keys in ignition Post by Cosray - The Hague - Holland on Feb 27th, 2009, 10:17pm Hi Johnofleeds, if central locking just locked the doors ONCE, so NOT double-locking, I once managed to pull the inside doorhandle away with a one yard weldingrod. Someone else has to prise ajar the passenger door slightly from above using wood or plastic wedge to allow the weldingrod to go in and down. Assuming the battery is powered up by now one only need to move the doorhandle maybe one inch to get the doormotor going and bingo. HTH, Ray |

Title: Re: Locked keys in ignition Post by johnofleeds on Feb 27th, 2009, 10:38pm Thanks for that Ray was going to try that but someone may know an easier way -like older caveliers had a sensor in the A post bottom near the sill which detected a quick decelleration and unlocked the central locking system inthe event of a collision. One sharp whack with a thin steel bar at the front of the sill and wing unlocked it.Just wondered if Scorpio's have this? thanks john p.s. the battery is flat and cannot open the bonnet catch. And car has no remote. |

Title: Re: Locked keys in ignition Post by Cosray - The Hague - Holland on Feb 27th, 2009, 10:45pm Scorpio has that sensor right under the dash and - when you have battery power and the ignition is on - will fire the airbag... Easiest way is breaking the small rear window and open the rear door - that's how my radio was nicked when stupidly! I once forgot to double-lock my baby... Low cost affair. Let me know how you go - Ray |

That's twaddle ::)....if you are the owner of the vehicle & your name is on the registration document as being the current owner & you have proof that you are who you are, then Benfield Ford shouldn't refuse to cut you a new key. They can just look up the key code from the registration & cut you a new uncoded key for £10 :) |
