Title: Re: Lost socket for locking nut Post by bizzay1 on Apr 15th, 2009, 7:05pm Most tyre places have a socket that will remove them, bit like an easy out in reverse, cost is normally about £5 a wheel http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/US-PRO-4-pce-1-2-Dr-LOCKING-WHEEL-NUT-REMOVER-SET_W0QQitemZ260390402419QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Hand_Tools_Equipment?hash=item260390402419&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1689%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 or you could buy a set but they are easier to use with an impact wrench |

Title: Re: Lost socket for locking nut Post by pinto on Apr 16th, 2009, 6:16pm Depends on the type, mike - if its the RS type with the loose outer collar, you'll need to split that first before hammering the socket on :) |

Title: Re: Lost socket for locking nut Post by shooshyneman on Jul 14th, 2009, 12:40pm There is a universal socket that you can buy with a series of hexagonal pins that fit down the centre designed to fit any nut, this works a treat. |

Thanks for the info but i got it done by welding a bar onto the locking nut and got it off that way. But your way seems easier. And as it happens i bought one of those uni sockets the other week......... i'll remember next time......... :) |

Title: Re: Lost socket for locking nut Post by Snoopy on Jul 15th, 2009, 11:40am If you look very carefully on the collar on the locking nut you will see a small code letter stamped into it... that is the code you need to get a replacement from FMD. The key also has the same on it ... worth making a note of it somewhere safe. |
