I'm seeking some advice folks.

My 24valve Ultima Estate runs perfectly :) and is my most recent acquisiton which my wife adores! However the engine surges into life whenever I/she starts her up :-/ - just a quick roar and then she settles down to a perfect tick-over. It reaches higher revs the longer she is left standing. Any ideas for a solution to this folks, before I start poking about and upsetting an otherwise perfectly running engine?

hi mike

how long does it 'over rev' for? if it's only seconds, i'd leave alone.

if you still want to fiddle, then give the idle by pass valve a clean out with carb cleaner. add a drop of light oil (3 in 1 is best) to the ram pipe and work it gently with a flat screw driver.

remember to take note of which way the multi plug is facing when taking it off as if you put it back round the wrong why it will rev to 1500rpm all the time.

Sounds normal to me - cold starts need up to 7 times the amount of fuel required at idle to get the engine started.
