hello everyone its nice to be a member :) but i need some help please i have a 1995 2ltr 16v my o/d light is flashing i have read a lot about this ... (now for the thick bit) when i start off all is ok if i keep the speed down light stays off if i hit 50 the light then comes on . from start i can count 4 gear changes so is all working or should it be 4 gears and then lock up .... if i press the o/d button when in top(i think its top)the car will change down and then i can change back up the car does 50 at 2000 rpm and 70 at just under 3000...... so can any of you tell me what i have and havnt got thanks neil :)

Have you got the ability to scan your gearbox for codes?
Alex pepper has the lead software etc for this I believe....
I'm sure one of the mods on here have the web address to contact him. Unless you live near someone that has the lead & software combo and can scan it for you. Where do you live?

Hi Neil and welcome ;D

Sounds like its not getting into top gear properly.

Is your speedo behaving normally?

Try cleaning your MAF first.

hi everyone my speedo seams to be ok i can count 4 gears from start :)

hi forgot to say the autobox oil is clean and new the guy i got it from changed it. when i got home with the car i rang him and said the o/d light was flashing he was an old guy and didnt know what the o/d was i do belive him cos i asked what the mode switch was on the dash and he didnt know.... ???

never ever believe in things like that... knew a few chaps who believed everything they've been told by the previous owner and their cars ended in a month or so, either in the a garage for an engine rebuild or in a scrap yard

thanks highlander your link goes on about lock up and 4th so is the lockup what i am missing
