Title: locking cofirmation
Post by emcscott on May 17th, 2009, 9:09am
When I locked my Scorpio the Direction indicators used to flash to confirm the car was locked etc but since I had a new engine wiring loom fitted they dont flash any more - does anyone know how to reset this ? Thanks

I take it this was done by a garage?. If so it appears that the car has 'lost' the 'Flash on Lock' capability which is programmed in on certain models and, IIRC, can only be done by someone with access to the Ford computer. The system, and a mod for cars that don't have it, is detailed Here (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/flashermod.htm).

but you can easily do it just buy messing with the central locking module wiring a bit...
Here is how to connect an aftermarket keyless entry system to the original one: [I know that's not what you want but there's a diagram that can help ;)]
http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Advice;action=display;num=1240697246

If you take a look on the diagram you'll see which wire is for what in the original installation. Now you need 12v on indicator wires when the car is opened/closed by a 12v signal ;) see where I'm going with this.... ;)

Thanks to everyone for your help  - I'm thinking I can live without a flash each time I lock the car ! I see what you mean about getting a 12v signal to the indicators and i've had a good look at the diagram.
Would I be right in supposing that the orange and white would give me the right sort of signal and this could be connected to the blue and the blue/red to flash the indicators ? or is that too simple ??

you need to confirm one thing;
if there is no signal on the blue and blue/red wire while turning on the warning lights or while indicating a turn you can do it the easy way, which is connecting the indicator wires with the locking signal wire.

otherwise it will be a bit more complicated but still doable ;)

let me know what is the result of the test and if there is no signal then do as stated above, if there is let me know and i'll come up with a solution for you.

Heh. Have had this problem too :) The car was standing for sereral months and the battery died. I replaced it with the "new" one. And now my car doesn't flash anymore when closing (but before it used to flash twice). I want try to do some guess programming :) Do you know if I may hurt my PATS so it could not work anymore?  ::)

Ivan.
Wouldn't have thought PATS is involved in any way with locking and flashing.

AFAIK, it's a programmable PATS feature :)

Does anyone have PATS.pdf from  http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/alarmsys.htm ?
I contacted by specified e-mail and sent PMs to some persons on this forum, but didn't receive any answer: neither negative nor positove.

Thanks

I can do it with the FDS Gazza, its under the comfort pack options somewhere if I remember, just a simple check or uncheck the box to change the setting.

I'll just need to bump into you at a meet somewhere ;)

Thanks Stu

I take it that this FDS you have is the only way of doing it . . .

Ok where do / can i get one of these things FDS. .

Edit. .  if I take battery off will this happen all the time ?

Yesterday I discovered that sound alarm in my car is not workig (locked the car with a fob and opened the door through the window). I think it might be the reason of loosing locking confirmation.

When you replaced the battery did you disturb the wiring to the alarm horn behind the battery??.

Not sure. But i 'm sure that beep signal is working when I press on the steering.
And when car should sound alarm, I think it also should flash. It doesn't flash

The warning horn which operates from the steering wheel is NOT the same horn. The warning horn(s) are fitted under the front bumper. The alarm horn is behind the battery and totally independent. It may be that IF that is not connected the 'system' is somehow not fully set.  ???

I have two CCM's (this is the module/unit hidden in the glove box). The original CCM in my car did not flash the indicators on double locking. I happened upon a second CCM, plugged it in after which it then started flashing.

Disconnecting the battery makes no difference, I have disconnected it several times and it still continues to flash. Only by swapping back to the old CCM does the flashing stop.

Very, very occaisionally - it fails to flash when I double lock it. My guess would be that the failure to flash probably means it has failed a locking test, perhaps the bonnet sensor is once in a while not confiming the bonnet is closed or something similar. Could this be the problem you are experiencing?

harry.m1byt is right, there were 2 different types of the CCM unit but the bonnet switch afaik has nothing to do with the locking circuit... the boot lid does though...

hi there

if the bonnet switch isn't working, the car wont double lock.

:)
A bit of info for all
Was reading these posts re bonnett switch and double locking / flashing lights etc

Well been playing like you do and also took note what  scorpio_man said re the bonnet switch . .
well I can confirm he is bang on and this is also  true with the doors ( not tried boot yet )
I thought my flash was gone as per earlyer post and if the doors are not shut properly again it wont flash.
So where is the sensor on the doors is it pin switch or some thing in the lock ?
The Bonnett switch is tested by undoing the plug near slam panel and testing the plug for 12v on the two wires if there is no 12v then there is your problem

There is only one obvious switch pin in the doors, which I think is for triggering the interior lights. The other switch has to be part of the door lock serving the 'door ajar' indicator display and the alarm system. The door ajar lights only go out if the doors are properly closed.

If all the door ajar lights work properly and all do go out, I would suggest the only problem left would be the bonnet contact fault inhibiting the double locking and the flash.

hmm
The car realy doublelocks: I cannot open the doors from inside, or open the boot with the key.

I tested the bonnet switch  - pressed it while the hood cover is open, locked the car and the depressed the switch - the car became beeping (back to my previous post - it turned out that the beeper was faultym, but hitting it with a metal stick and ajusting the tuning screw made it alive).
But it doens't flash when making an alarm sound. And it doens't flash after doublelocking.
Note: it flashes when i press hazard button, or turn righ/left turn indicators.
