Post by Tekno on May 25th, 2009, 3:17pm
Have a look:

Seems to red fluid (ATF or Cooling fluid which is changed to red one), but where does it come from ? And what are those pipes where sensor is connected?

Thats your power steering pipes, check the hose connection just below the power steering reservoir, thats the common one

hi  there

it looks like the power steering pressure switch.

i'd look at the pipes to the power steering reservoir. these tend to leak a little which gets everywhere.

just tighten them up a bit and give the pipes a clean. see if that fixes it.

The power steering pressure switch has been known to leak fluid through its body & out of the connections (I had this problem a few months ago).....So it could also be the source of the leak  :)

Can I use this mineral based hydraulic/gearbox fluid for power steering?:

Bottle says: "DEXRON III, ATF 3353, Ford M2C195-A, M2C202-B and M2C922-A1, MB 236.12 ja 236.81 also VW 501.60, VW TL 521 60 and TL 501 62. Same as original fluids: MB 001 989 45 03, also Ford 8 000 047 (1 087 900 ja 4 571 525) also VW G 055 025 A2 and G 052 990 A2. "

I have few bottles of that..
(I bought 10 of them for changing autobox casket and filter but cooler and torque converter didn't give oils out )

Recommended fluid is M2C166, right? It's Dextron II afaik. So it's also "ATF" gearbox fluid like that other one.. They look (red), smell and viscosity (thin) seems to be nearly same, so can I use that fluid?

as far as i'm concerned you can use any ATF fluid you've got ;)

I removed reservoir of steering fluid, cleaned it and hoses too (outside only). Then I replaced http://www.hydromarket.fi/hm/img/thumbnails/maba.jpg with new ones and also put very sticky seal adhesive in the fittings and then tightened http://www.hydromarket.fi/hm/img/thumbnails/maba.jpg on them (hose between of course). After couple of fluid adds all the air came out and fluid is now topped with Dextron III automatic gearbox fluid. Steering works now perfectly and without any strange noises from pump.

What is this in english?

150 kilometers of driving and no any decrease of steering fluid.  :)
