Title: No Tickover
Post by jenko_15 on Jun 27th, 2009, 10:47am
Hi All. Had to disconnect the negative pole of battery this morning and now no tickover  ???

It starts on the button but will not idle. I have re-checked all the little connectors which are all tight and secure. Any suggestions will be VERY welcome  :-/

Sorry. I was intending to replace the VSS and disconnected the negative. Everything was perfect before then. Couldn't do the VSS, so reconnected everything onto the negative terminal. Fires fine - just no idle.

Sorry guys - not being very specific am I! It's a 24v saloon 95{N]. Everything (apart from the VSS) was OK until I disconnected the battery.

hi  there

dis-connecting the battery with make the car re-learn all it's values again.

as asked, will it run with a little gas?

maybe take the idle bypass valve off and give it a clean.

hth

no idle = engine dies or  revving up and down?

MAF been off?

Could it be a vacuum leak at the manifold or somewhere

Panic over Guys. Changed the VSS, gave it a good run and lo and behold - it ticked over, a bit lumpy though, so cleaned the idle control - perfect! Phew!!!

Thanks to all who replied and tried to help.

Cheers
