Title: a very alarming noise Post by Ewing1 on Jul 3rd, 2009, 11:12pm Hi All. I have a problem with my scorpio 2,0 dohc 16valve. the car runs great but occasionally there is a metallic klonk from the engine and the car won´t hardly move for a few minutes. It happens mostly when the engine is running below 2000rpm. its quite alarming when it happens as the whole car is shaking. my guess.- please don´t laugh.. is that it could be a cylinder or maybe the gearbox (coupling- is that the word?) sorry about my english best regards Ewing1 |

Title: Re: a very alarming noise Post by Jonnycab on Jul 4th, 2009, 2:01am Could be clutch related if manual........if automatic, then possibly a sticking autobox solenoid :-/...... :) Does it happen in drive or when stationary ? |

Title: Re: a very alarming noise Post by Jonnycab on Jul 14th, 2009, 12:54pm Try it with the aircon off then ;)....If you think the compressor is suspect then, with the engine off ;), try to turn the clutch wheel (on front of compressor) by hand, it should turn quite easily :) |

Title: Re: a very alarming noise Post by Kenboy on Jul 14th, 2009, 5:04pm Hi Remove relay No 24 from the fuse box passenger side this will isolate the air compressor, then see what it is like the relay is blue in colour had a similar problem with mine turns out it was indeed the compressor that had clutch engagement problems. Good Luck. Kenboy |
