Title: locked out
Post by auntiephil on Jul 12th, 2009, 11:43am
Hi all, car has been standing for about two weeks, tried to open it and no go, so recharged the battery (it was low) tried again- no go, checked the battery in the remote , guess what, low.Replaced them today tried again- no go.Now your thinking just use the key, i believe the car was a repo before i got it and both front doors do not unlock on the key, obviously they lock, what are my options ???. cheers, phil.

Snoopy has a method for gaining access without causing damage.

Be a good idea to sort out the lock problem though, otherwise every time the remote battery fails you'll have to go through the same procedure

If the car has been left for more than 90 hours the radio control module shuts down....... http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/faultfinds.htm

Why cannot you open the door with the key?  Did you try other keys? My one I used always has been ground off by long usage and it doesn't work to open passenger's  door, but the "master" one is almost new and opens all the locks.

I can't believe Ford really made it possible to lock the door forever with a dead battery

PS: what I can suggest it to try to open the hood. Maybe it will be less expensive than breaking the drivars glass.

And note: if the door is doublelocked, you can't open it from inside in a usual way

Thank you Ivan, if you read my other posts, i said the keys, all of them ,do not unlock the car, even the master key, because before i owned it i believed it to be a reposession, maybe that has something to do with it, altho all the keys start the engine! The expense of a spare window is not a problem cos i have a complete other car for spares. To end on a good note, ive owned this car over a year and its been Totally reliable(now ive said it :-/.cheers,phil.

It may be just hard to get out all the pieces of a broken window and you may cut the seats or even yourself.

If you don't have a cover on your battery you may also try to insert 2 wires with hooks on edges (I’d say thick metal sticks) through the grill under the windscreen. and connect new battery to them.

But I think Snoopy might know more right answer ;)
