Title: pulling back/smoothness going
Post by lleewar on Aug 2nd, 2009, 1:19pm
Hi There. It sometimes feels while driving, that the car is pulling back slightly like an on/off effect and not feeling as smooth as it should. It goes when you take your foot off of the accelerator. Any ideas??

Hi, that's like one of the symptoms my 2.0 had when the catalytic convertor was blocking up, worth checking the fuel and air filters first though, also try giving the MAF a clean.

my car seemed to hesitate like the way you describe sometimes.especially when you put the boot down.i think im going to need a new coil pack soon.i think that they are breaking down under load(accelerating)i think thats your problem

llewar.
You could indeed have a failing coil pack as big_timer says, but have you ever put new spark plugs in ?

Hi, No1. Air filter OK,   No2. Maf new but cleaned anyway.  No3. Bought the car recently so do not know much history of work done. Will check spark plugs and coil pack, whatever and where ever that is. I would be grateful if someone could tell me what I should be looking for. Also catalytic convertor cleaning???? Thanks in advance

Read This article (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/dohcloom.htm) which will show you where the coil packs are. One coil serves two plugs. The pack sits on one plug and a lead connects to the other plug.  ;)
