hi guys,i have a p-reg 12v and i have this slight problem, the brake lights dont turn off even with the ignition switched off, with it off the brake pedal now turns the dash lights and the gauges on?????? so got home and went to check the brake light switch on the pedal, to my amazment there was two a blue one (lower) and a green one (upper) took them off an checked them, all was good the lower one, when i press it in and out the dash lights go one and off, now not being a genius with auto electrics ive turned to u guys fo some advice

First thing to do i think is maybe check your multi plug is in correct... just had it explained on a post in the Off topic subject..... i don't beleive it.... :)

Hello Paul and Welcome :)

I'd have a look at the back of your light switch on the dash, they are bad for burning out the pins.

Does yours have the front and rear fogs or just the rears?

I can send you a spare one to try if you pm me your address.

@tonyboy: thanks think they only fit one way mate

@highlander: yea mate mine has the front and rears

when i say dash lights i mean as if you turn the ignition on with all the warning lights

Also might be worth checking which bulbs you have in the brake lamps and if the holders are fitted correctly and not shorting to another circuit.

Check the wiring loom in the boot. You may need to 'unwrap' the outer tape but there is a known fault where the offside boot hinge hits the loom if it it is not secured properly and it damages the wires. The damage is frequently NOT visible without removing the outer tape covering. :)

I mentioned this in another post this happened to my TD saloon, it was the ABS modules
