Hi peeps.....just upgraded old cloth seats to leather but plugs and switches are wrong ...does anyone know how to adapt wireing to accomodate electric seat controls?
Passenger side in the car only has a single yellow plug and drivers side has 1 yellow plug, 1 black 2 pin and 1 white plug.
The new leather driver seat has some sort of large module fitted at it's front?...they are also heated but I'm not bothered about having that feature just now.

Hi,

The yellow plugs are for the pretensioner. the 2 small plugs are for the heated seats. I can tell you how to plug them in if you want....

The rest is very easy to plug the seat, you have 2 wires coming from the floor of your car now, one is black - and the other one is orange +
You need to connect them with the thick blue-orange + and thick black - from your new seats. [the big plug]
To connect the passenger side just extend the wires from the floor and do the same.
An voila you have electric seats.

You can adapt the original plug from your old seats to connect the new ones or just do a a direct circuit.

The module you are talking about is the memory multiplex, I can tell you how to use too if you decide to do a full conversion.

Hi,

I've already explained to you how to connect the motors from your new seats using your existing installation, as for the memory multiplex you need to get yourself a drivers side door memory/mirror multiplex + memory switches and then let me know, I'll send you the instruction.
For the heated seats you need the centre console panel, the one around the handbrake lever, with heated seats buttons and then let me know I'll post you the connection diagram.

I know of a centre console with heater switches...will collect tomorrow.

Oh one more thing, I don't know what sort of electrician you are but from your pretty basic question I assume you're not a pro... no offence here, it's for your safety. So please give my instructions to a qualified car electrics specialist or even an ordinary electrician and let him do the job for you. If you mess it up you will set the car on fire.

The wiring loom for the heated seats just plugs in to the big plug just in front of the passenger seat. It is a straight swop and it takes its power from the cigar lighter socket. through the little yellow relay inside the centre console. If you do NOT have the loom then you need a + feed and take power from the cigar socket via the relay. The loom should be reasonably easy to surce if you don't have one already.

And if you are really adventurous and decide to fit the electric rear seats, you just piggy back the wiring again to the rear seat motors!!

If you have the relay use this diagram:

If you don't have the relay use this diagram:
look out, if you use this due to lack of the relay the heating won't switch off automatically when you turn the engine off, as it will be using the cigarette lighter to work, you will have to remember to switch the heated seats off manually

In both cases if you get the green LEDs from the switches to light up you know your good, if not you need to recheck the connections. Good luck!

The electric rear seats on my Mk1 Scorp have power that can be bypassed by the windows cutout switch in the centre console. The only thing I miss the Mk1 is memory seats, all seats have electrical adjustment    8)

Hmmm I never knew that Geoff. When I fitted electric rear seats into S29 (and the red one before that) I removed them from a MKIII Granada Scorpio and took all the wiring out (as one does) the wiring to the switches at the rear in both cases; was just solder jointed into the front seat supply at the same point on both MKIII's and never went anywhere near a relay or the isolator switch...

Strange!!

Mind you, the window switch cut off in the S Class does turn off the rear windows, seat adjustment and heaters too!!

Ture. Have some diagrams and photos of the whole process of adding the MKI rear seats motors to MkII, if anyone is interested I'll have a look around and post it...

Qiuck Tip for anyone doing this.......the front seat securing bolts nearest the sill or door if you like will almost always shear off if you try to unscrew them without WD 40ing the bit you can see under the car floor. It's open to the elements and will be rusty as heck...should be wire brushed too I reckon....both mine have sheared this way and many others I have talked to about replacing seats have had the same experience.
This leaves the seats less than 100% secure and a smart MOT tester might fail your car because of this.... Anyone have any ideas on how to remove the sheared off bolt so I can replace with a nice shiny new one??? ??? ???

Very strange... Drill it.... Btw. looks like your car is due for conservation/preservation underneath. Mine had blots shiny there as new, still has....

i did'nt have problems  with my 24v seat bolts  when i put in the leather seats i got from highlander
