My heaterfan is squeaking and stopping at low speed.. have recently replaced it with a second hand part.. the old one had same failure.

Any way i can repair\clean the motor?

YourEnglish better than my Swedish!!. Remove the heater blower control from the top of the 'box' under the bonnet and spray in WD 40. :D

or look at my fix in "advice" page 2 last topic..dont know how to paste a link sorry ...anyway seems ot have fixed my squealing motor

Thanks.. it may kill the noise.. but my fan stops sometimes too.. i dont think it vill solve this.
i read on the replace heaterfan article on this site and he mentioned a procedure to clean the motor.. he got it form merkurman site he said.
I have searched but no results.. Any ideas?

it may have two separate problems 1/ squealing bearings and 2/ problem with hbc unit
at low speed the hbc is having to dump a lot of power across it and is working at its hardest ..will get progressively hotter as fan speed drops ...does the fan restart after a while if left untouched? if it does the hbc is at fault

worth checking with meter whether there is a variable voltage output ..should runs 12v down to around 2v

The last time this query came up the merkurman site was no longer available
