Hi

I'm having problems re-coding my radio.

scorpio_man kindly mailed me an activation code and a link to the radio information.

I found information on the keycode entry procedure here:

Using buttons 1-4 and 5 to enter the code didn't work for me though.

If you look at this photo the word "keycode" over button 6 seems to imply that it might be the enter key?

Is the idea to use buttons 2-5 to input the code and 6 as the enter key?

Can anyone clarify this for me please?

1-4 for the code, 5 to enter is correct, what happened when you did it?

The instructions are quite clear and 5 is the input button. Are you sure that the code is correct?. Did you give Andrew the serial number of the radio and if so are you sure it was the correct one ?. Suggest you first re-check with Andrew. If you have tried more than three times with an incorrect number it will 'lock up' for a while.

IIIRC it started a countdown of about 3000 seconds. Trouble is I was pushed for time and had to switch the engine off so I don't know what would happen at the end of the countdown.

A count down that long didn't seem like expected behaviour though, hence the post.

Simmo, I missed your post. Yes I gave him the serial number, a friend read it out and I read it back to him so hopefully we got it right! I only tried the once IIRC and it went into the long count down.

I'll PM Andrew again just to check he got the number right. He did say the radio might have been re-coded in the past though, which I guess means a trip to a shop to get it coded again.

......Keycode entry procedure

Preset buttons one to four are used to enter the four digit keycode in a similar way to the current 2000 series units.

Preset button five is used to enter the complete keycode and enable the unit to operate.

After three incorrect keycodes are entered, the unit will lockup for 30 minutes, the display will then enter the 'WAIT' mode and count-down to zero. When 'CODE' is displayed, the radio will accept another entry attempt.

After 10 incorrect keycode entries are made the unit will be permanently locked out.

It's not permanently locked. But needs different unlock method. Can't remember where I found instructions but they worked on my 7000.

Yep, you can get another three after the 10 but after those you've had it ;)

Success, I have an awful feeling I transposed two digits when I tried it the first time :-(
I'll just quietly chew on my keyboard while rocking gently.......
Thanks for all your help. GF won't be nagging me over no music on a 400 mile trip on Thurs now :-)
