I'm in the process of replacing parts on my wifes 2.3 Scorpio and I need to replace the blown LED's on the memory switch.

I've followed the advice about the computer switch for my car and will do the same for her's. The problem is how to replace the LED's on the memory switch, which will be very similar.

The key issue is how will I know which position is positive for the LED's so I don't start blowing them etc?

You need to source native 12V 3mm leds, not those with any resistors solderedon.

Yes I have read that and used the information to replace the LED's on the computer switch. I am also looking to replace the LED's on the memory seat switch

Oops. What I can say about that it's a lot more difficult. Both to open and to get the leds there, there's a huge chance of breaking it. The wide button seems to be a 5V green wide angle led. The others are regular ~3V green 3mm led's. The position button leds are connected in series. The best way to determine polarity is by testing with a multimeter for resistance. It'll light up when you feed electricity in the right polarity. You will not find the wide button led easily from anywhere. What you need to do is to change one of the two SMD resistors for one with the correct resistance. I did this once when I converted the switch to red. With a led resistance calculator you will easily find the correct to use.
