Title: Fuel cut off loom Post by Technology2005 on Oct 19th, 2009, 2:55pm Does anyone know if fuel cut off looms are still available from FMC? I have a 95 2.0 16v DOHC Scorpio which I am sure needs a new loom as I discovered a plug with some nice bare wires on it which looks to be part of the fuel injection system? (the connector is close to the power steering reservoir) I've applied a patch of electrical tape to each wire to make sure they don't touch, but clearly damp will get in and the wiring has to be shot within the other parts of this loom. The car often hesitates when it is cold (it can be like trying to pull away with a whale sitting on the roof ....could get overtaken by milkfloats!), but this generally disappears when the car has warmed up. Title: Re: Fuel cut off loom Post by Technology2005 on Oct 19th, 2009, 3:54pm Hi Lee, unfortunately I don't think it's that simple. The wiring has degraded as per the section on wiring looms on this site. Mine is an early Scorpio so probably has the dud Arnitel insulation. It is cracking and falling off around this plug. Also the connector is a lot like the one in this picture: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/old%20loom%20011.jpg and the wiring is at least as bad. David |

Yikes, so £156 on fleabay from a Ford Dealer is reasonable it would seem. David |

Title: Re: Fuel cut off loom Post by lleewar on Oct 19th, 2009, 5:37pm Hi David, I have a April 95 2.0 12v with the arnitel insulation. In places I did reinsulate the cracked wiring back to the good stuff and it's OK. I also changed the connectors as in the picture, rewiring so as to show no wiring. It can be done |

Well to save £156 it might be worth a go I suppose, just hope the cracked wiring isn't this bad all the way back down the loom. I'll have to have a think... :-/ |
