Title: Cruise Control has strange behaviour in downhill
Post by Tekno on Oct 31st, 2009, 1:37pm
Hello.

I have noticed that when I put Cruise Control for example @80km/h and drive in highway which has long downhill, transmission starts to motorbrake for a 2 second (approx) and then continues like there aren't downhill for another ~2second. Then again motorbrake for ~2 second and another 2 second no.. That happens as long as there is downhill  ::) Result is that I'm going like 86km/h and speed equalizes to 80km/h AFTER the downhill. It's like cc forgets current action for about 50% time and and lets car roll freely every another second or two.

I could live with that if weren't so jerky with those motorbrake-nomotorbrake changes.  It's like something kicking your driver seat from behind

Very annoying. What can I do to that?

I remember that previously it worked properly. Speed was very near 80km/h and didn't matter if downhill or not because it motorbraked downhills and motorbraking was enough to keep speed stable. (rpm gauge needle dips during it about 100-200rpm or something like that)

I fitted a simple WAECO one (took me two weeks) and I believe it is better and ergonomical compared with the original. It uses the radio remote and it works very reliably. Photos can be uploaded if required. It uses all 4 directions and the switch.
