Yes....it would be handy  ;)

Firstly....do you have a battery cover ?

Secondly......is yours a mid '97 or later, or facelift model ?....& have you noticed any water drips in the passenger footwell ?

Above the passenger footwell cover is the PCM/ECU (silver box), which on later models has the PATS incorporated into it.
If this gets wet (leak from bulkhead, under battery) & water gets into the pins in the multiplug, then it can cause this kind of problem.

If the passenger side footwell is wet then as JC says the grommet behind the fusebox is letting water in through the bulkhead and that is running all over the electronics as it does so. NOT a good idea. ::).
Have a read of THIS page (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/battery.htm) as it shows how to remove the panel in front of the battery. You need to make sure there is no rubbish, leaves etc, blocking the drainage channels as this is the most likely cause of your problem IF the boxes are dry. They may appear dry from the top BUT if water is held in the tray it will get into the layers of the fusebox underneath.

If water is getting in to the passenger footwell the likely cause is because the CCM/Pats which sits behind the glovebox is getting wet. Lower the glovebox and get in behind there and make sure the large grommet which caries the wires from/to the fusebox through the bulkhead is properly fitted to keep the water out.

Read This (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/drainholes.htm) and get a battery cover.

Brownie, THIS page (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/electrical/intbasic/CentralContModule.pdf) may help as it shows how to 'drop' the entire glovebox to give access to the CCM. Let us know how you get on and I see you have the offer of a battery cover!. ;D

as mentioned before, depends what year car is. earlier cars have seperate pats units, later facelift pats built into ecu. you will have ignition relays and fuses. have you the owners handbook? full list of fuses and relays in there

hi there

can you recap what is happening and what you've done to try and fix it.

is the engine turning over on the starter motor?

or you are getting nothing when turning the key to start (including the warning lights, etc)?
