Title: Water leak into boot on Facelft Saloon
Post by mondeoman on Nov 7th, 2009, 7:31pm

Hi,

I've just had my car waxoyl'd today and the guy at WaxWorks (Morpeth) commented that my boot carpet was very wet and I must have a leak somewhere.

He suggested locking myself in the boot and get someone to spray the car with water to try and find where it is coming into the car.

I was just wondering if anybody has had a similar problem and can suggest where I should start looking for the problem?

P.S I've had both my car's Waxoyl'd in Morpeth at a place called WaxWorks, he is very good and reasonably priced.

is the boot seal in good working order?

the rear sun roof drain pipes run down the wings to the rear of the wheel arch, if the connector has broke off then the pipes might have entered the boot

is the spare wheel well full of water?

When the boot lid is open during or after rain, water trickles out of the corners of the plastic lamps onto the back of the carpet.I have never known any other water ingress as the chanelling prevents it.

I am going to have a good luck tomorrow in daylight, but I have not noticed the spare wheel well full of water.

Water can also get in via the edge of the light strip  :)

I've run out of time today to try and find the leak, but the water is sitting on the rubber grommet where the wires pop through to the reverse sensor etc, if you know where I mean?

I am wondering if it the rear brake light that may be leaking some how?

The boot seal does seem to be in very good order.

I'd take out the rear light and reseal with clear silicone.
clean the area around the aperature well too.
take out the boot carpets etc to dry out anyway
