I want to fit one of the above sockets either in the glove box or out of sight underneath it somewhere and I need to know where the most appropriate place would be to take a power source from and any advice on how to incorporate on/off switch to it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Wire it straight from the battery and just put an inline switch onto the live wire. Only trouble is if you leave whatever you plug in, switched on; it will drain the battery.

You could run the thing through a relay which is switched with the ignition. I did that when I fitted all the screens etc. into the rear of mine. I also had the 12v accessory socket in the boot to run a fridge when we went down to the South of France.
