What is the best methode to power up Cosworth 2,9 - 24V ? and how much HP is it possible to get out of it ??

It can be bored and stroked to 3.7 litres

removing the cats will give you a bit extra as will fitting an electric water pump but I dont think the BOB engine was well catered for in the power upgrade market compared to the BOA though.

I fitted a 4.27 diff to my 24v and it gives a great increase in performance

Could you elaborate on the diff story Highlander. Is it documented anywhere? If it's not too painful might like to have a go at that. Best wishes everyone btw. Apparantly xmas is coming.

Easy enough to do, some good info here.

Basically you swap the 24v's standard 3.64 ratio diff for the 4.27 diff from the 2.0 16v
diffs are the same and its a straight swap.

You need to replace the drive pinions in the 2.0 diff (100mm diameter) with the 24v ones (108mm diameter) as the 2.9's use the larger CV joints but they are interchangable and its only a matter of a couple of circlips holding them in, meaning you need to remove the diff backplate.

Chances are you will need to swap the backplates over anyway though as there are two different types and the 2.0 uses the early type.

You will need to replace your VSS unless you dont mind your speed reading about 20mph fast :)

Performance wise it makes a HUGE difference in acceleration, I can stay with a Porsche Boxter now ;)

However the revs will be higher with the 4.27 diff for the same speed so if you do motorway driving it'll be a killer, dont expect over 20mpg ;)

Great for towing though

Hi Ron,

it has nothing to be confused about, it just thinks its going a bit faster than it actually is.
