Title: Memory seat and passenger mirror not working
Post by mondeoman on Jan 24th, 2010, 1:58pm

Hi,

All I seem to get are problems with my wife's 2.3 ultima car at the moment. I've changed the battery following the advice of several people on here and now (may/maynot be related) the memory seat/mirror function is not working.

The strange thing is the passenger mirror will not operate by the rocker switch to adjust the position of it, BUT the drivers side works fine :-/

I've check a few of the fuses and all seems to be fine, any clues as the cause and solution?
Both problems must be related.

Cheers

Just a thought. do you have auto dipping on the passenger side mirror when you put it in reverse. If you have try the reverse, see if it dips. If it doesn't maybe you have a loose connection

If it's an ULTIMA spec model then it should have the dipping passenger door mirror feature  ;)

Forget to mention that the mirror does in fact dip in reverse gear, so no connection problems.

The two problems must be linked in some way?

I've tried the memory button from my Scorpio and that did not solve the problem so it's not the switch. Does anybody have an indea's what is causing the problem?

I know you said you have checked some fuses, but have you checked fuse 25 ( drivers side fuse box ) it controls the power window, and acording to the wiring diagram, the mirror as well. Which is controled via a multifunction module...
Maybe someone who knows better may clarify.......

I've checked the fuse and everything is fine with the one you suggested. I can't believe how few responses I am getting on here with this problem. Have I stumped everyone?

Have you checked the connections to the module under the drivers seat & the plug that connects the loom to the drivers door?
Sometimes there isn’t an easy answer, you just have to check it out with a meter.

Hello mondeoman, did you sort out your mirror problem..

I've not managed to check the memory module and wiring but none of this was touched when I changed the battery. The switches on the memory unit in the door do light up so they do have power. It would help if their were wiring diagrams that I could follow and they may show a common link between all the problems. Is their any instruction on how to access the module from the seat and change it etc?

Cheers,

If you're tipping the seat back undo both of the rear seat runner guards as they break easily, they’re shown in this link to the other connections under the seat:
http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/interior/seat/fseatassyhi.pdf

You should disconnect the battery first as the connector for the pyrotechnic seat belt pretensioner is under there.

I'm glad to say I have managed to resolve the problem and it was caused by a bad connection on the battery. My fault for only doing half a job in the first place when I replaced the battery!

Thanks for your help,

Mondeoman
