Title: Re: cossie rear bearing Post by Highlander on Jan 25th, 2010, 10:32pm not too bad a job.. I usually replace them with a complete second hand hub. I would suspect though that since you can hear a noise and a bearing hasnt yet collapsed, that it may be a CV joint rather than a wheel bearing. You dont normally get much of a warning with a wheel bearing. The CV joint bolts have a habit of coming loose too. |

Title: Re: cossie rear bearing Post by Tompion on Jan 26th, 2010, 10:49pm Keep an eye on it, there’s a significant chance there’s something wrong with it. Personally I would change a bearing that had come loose. |

Title: Re: cossie rear bearing Post by Scorpio_Mike on Jan 27th, 2010, 12:06am Might be an idea to use Loctite on the hub nut - when you have torqued it up put some white paint or tip-ex on the end of the thread & the nut - easy to check if things have moved by removing the wheel centre. Not sure if the nuts should really be re-used though ??? |

Title: Re: cossie rear bearing Post by Chris_Basel on Jan 28th, 2010, 3:23pm The driver's side one on mine kept undoing itself, so we put the old nut on as well as a locknut. It's been like that for years now and no more problems. |
