coming home tonight heard this nosie from the back of my car got worse as the wheels rotated, i think the bearings gone, what sort of job is it what sort of price is it going to cost me,

not too bad a job.. I usually replace them with a complete second hand hub.

I would suspect though that since you can hear a noise and a bearing hasnt yet collapsed, that it may be a CV joint rather than a wheel bearing.

You dont normally get much of a warning with a wheel bearing.

The CV joint bolts have a habit of coming loose too.

Was it more of a clack clack clack than a grinding or squealing,if so Highlander could very well be right  8)

About forty quid I seem to remember.V6s are bigger than cars with smaller engines,beware of that.This price is pattern part from factors,don't know about Ford,worth a phone,stranger things have happened !!

hi there here is the conclusion of the problem big nut in the centre was loose. tightened up to 200lb problem gone thanks for your in put dave,

Keep an eye on it, there’s a significant chance there’s something wrong with it.
Personally I would change a bearing that had come loose.

Might be an idea to use Loctite on the hub nut - when you have torqued it up put some white paint or tip-ex on the end of the thread & the nut - easy to check if things have moved by removing the wheel centre.
Not sure if the nuts should really be re-used though  ???

The driver's side one on mine kept undoing itself, so we put the old nut on as well as a locknut. It's been like that for years now and no more problems.
