Title: Heater blower on all the time
Post by trickyt on Apr 29th, 2010, 12:39pm
Hi there, hope someone can help with some advice for what to do next.
I was driving along in my R' reg Cossie the other day and without warning the heater blower decided to operate at full blast. I tried every possible combination using the CC controls to switch it off but to no avail. I drove the 25 miles home with it on full blast which was, needless to say very annoying for the fact that the noise was very loud and the vibration i could feel through the pedals.
I used the info on here to remove the CC control module from the dash and disconnected the ribbon cable to cancel it out but even with it disconnected the fan was still on full blast. So i've ended up taking fuse 29 out of the box to totally disable it whilst i endeavour to find out what the problem is likely to be.
Just to reiterate, the fan is on full speed all the time even with the climate switched off, It still does it even with the control panel on the dash disconnected and
i've also tried a CC reset twice and code 57 displays on the passenger side.
Thanks guys, hope you can help.
Cheers Trev.

Welcome to the site.........You could try testing the heater blower control......... http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/hbctest.htm
P.S It's just below the front windscreen under the bonnet..........

Thanks Tony. I'll give it a try tomorrow. I'll need to blag a multimetre off my neighbour though.
I'll give a report when i've tested it to let everyone know.
Cheers, Trev.

It defaults to permanently on when you disconnect the ribbon, so that’s normal.
Did you try reseating the cable and making sure the clips are locked after you disconnected the ribbon? - as that’s often all that needs doing.

Yes i made sure it was pressed home and also jiggled it a bit whilst it was connected with the control out the dash just in case there was a break in the cable but the fan remained on full blast.
Was going to check the hbc today but the heavens opened so i'll try my luck again tomorrow.
Thanks guys.
Trev.
