Title: Scorpio 2.0 8v misfire, yes, again! Post by Conrad on May 16th, 2010, 4:37pm right im back, sorry about bein gone so soon after joining, lots of stuff got in the way but finally have a chance to get back on. changed the coilpacks as suggested, but to my dismay it still misfires on acceleration and sometimes at idle, it's bad and the car lacks power. |

Title: Re: Scorpio 2.0 8v misfire, yes, again! Post by Mike H on May 21st, 2010, 3:02pm OK this may help, indeed there is a thing called electronic DIS (distributor?) module, with a multi-plug on it. A few more things connected to it than you might expect http://cid-eb36f845ea9b8fb6.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/WIRING%20DIAGRAMS/ENGINE%20CONTROL%202.5TDI%20AUTO%20.pdf#resId/EB36F845EA9B8FB6!176 Can't find one for the 8V, this is closest |

Title: Re: Scorpio 2.0 8v misfire, yes, again! Post by Conrad on May 28th, 2010, 5:54pm have been lookin at those things there, electrical stuff is not something i like so will have to get some assistance. |

Title: Re: Scorpio 2.0 8v misfire, yes, again! Post by Mike H on May 29th, 2010, 12:31pm Must be something basic and fundamental, I mean if it were that serious it wouldn't work at all I would've thought. I notice that the 8V version has got a capacitor across the supply for the coil driver module, could be like in the old contact breaker method if the "condenser" was up the spout it wouldn't spark properly (?) |

Title: Re: Scorpio 2.0 8v misfire, yes, again! Post by Dave2302 on May 29th, 2010, 1:36pm Have you checked the wiring where it goes into the cyl head / valve cover at the back, I've seen these with no insulation and shorting out.....A very common problem and causes misfires etc HTH Dave |

Title: Re: Scorpio 2.0 8v misfire, yes, again! Post by Mike H on May 29th, 2010, 6:24pm IIRC I'm assuming this is already checked out / fixed, plus spark plugs not worn to nothing (the other favourite), but no harm asking again ;D |

Title: Re: Scorpio 2.0 8v misfire, yes, again! Post by Mike H on May 29th, 2010, 6:25pm PS you can get high Voltage pulses on the primary side of the coils as well, not a lot of people know that, which is why the ol' breaker condenser is needed. |
