Title: Removing ABS senser
Post by Robin.M on Jun 6th, 2010, 4:11pm
Hi all

My ABS light fails to go of and and reading the ABS info I tried to remove the front sensers after removing the 10mm bolt, but it is solid in the hub. Any thoughts on removing it without damage as they are not cheap.

Thanks

Geraint

Here's a previous POST (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Problems;action=display;num=1251192477) That might help you........

I am not aware of anyone who has successfully removed a front sensor without destroying it. They simply are stuck fast.

Test all the sensors with an ohmeter,if they are all about the same there is no point in busting them out,the rears always come out easily though,as you will see the plugs for the front ones are under the wheel arch all in the muck, the rears are under the back seat.

If you do go and remove a stuck front senser - does it come out of the hub?

As the car is a '98 2.5 diesel - I seem to have read that the car does not lend itself  for the ABS code reading as I could take it to someone (yet to find) before I start trying to remove the senser?

Tonyboy's link has a wealth of ABS information, which I may have to use as the car needs an MOT & tax

I've successfully used 'Rost-Off-Ice' for other stuck bolts and nuts, but not tried on the sensers.   Used this stuff on a stuck Lambder senser, worked a treat, also on stuck bleed nipples.   Maybe worth a try.

I have managed to remove a couple in the past after hours of slowly working them loose but its easier/cheaper to fit a second hand hub ;)
