Title: Need help badly Post by lebelbelshaw on Jul 3rd, 2010, 6:47pm I have just finished doing the head gasket on my 2 litre Scorpio 16v and it is only running on three cylinders. Some of the wiring to the coil packs was faulty but I have now rectified this all spark plugs are sparking and the injectors seem fine. I have come to a stand still as I didn't have this problem before I started. |

Title: Re: Need help badly Post by Matt on Jul 3rd, 2010, 7:18pm are you sure its miss firing and not just miss timed? there are 3 marks on the bottom pulley, from memory its the left had one if you get what i mean? are you sure the injectors wiring plugs are fully down, again from memory i think the first 3 injectors are all in one housing and the 4th on its own |

Title: Re: Need help badly Post by Matt on Jul 3rd, 2010, 7:30pm there should be a peg that stick out just above the bottom pulley, you may have it just off top dead (middle mark) you'll need the rocker cover and front plate off again, also check the chain tensioner has released you need to give them a tap to free them off have a read of this manual http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/engines/dohc16v/DOHC16VCHead.pdf Matt |

Title: Re: Need help badly Post by Matt on Jul 3rd, 2010, 7:38pm give the fuel line connectors a check over to, ive known them to not fully locate before, theres various vacumme hoses on the intake manifold, maf sensore on the air box the coil packs are wasted spark so if the main unit is firing so should the plug on the lead, unless you have a break in the casing and its shorting on the rocker cover |

Title: Re: Need help badly Post by lebelbelshaw on Jul 4th, 2010, 4:45pm I have just finished checking all fuel lines and sensors. I have got to the timing part and I haven't got any gold links on my chain or dots on the cam sprockets as described in the manual I also can't find a peg as described by matt above the pulley. Any surjestions |

Title: Re: Need help badly Post by lebelbelshaw on Jul 5th, 2010, 9:37pm I have now sorted the timing out ( I think) as it is running on 4 cylinders. I am now suffering with a bit of miss fire and poor idle. Any tips on what to check now. I was also wondering how much the diagnostics kits are for the scoripo. |

Title: Re: Need help badly Post by Highlander on Jul 5th, 2010, 10:38pm Was it working ok before the head gasket? If so I think its just a case of checking over everything you have done or touched. When you say you checked the sensors how did you check them? |

If you don't care about ABS codes, almost any ELM-based lead off ebay will work, costs £15 or so. |
