Hello everyone,I am a new owner of a 2.9 1997 12v .my problem is when the car is on slow running the compressor goes off,,it goes on when I press the accelerator .is this normal ?thanks

It should cycle on and off controlled by the de-ice switch,I have never had one that shuts down at idle though.Is your gas pressure OK ?

Hi gozz the de-ice switch is new just bought it last week,and the gas pressure should be ok cause just when the compressor goes on it gets real cold.

If the pressure is too low the compressor wont cut in, it sounds like its possibly on the low pressure limit?

Sam 58:  this article may guide you  through some excellent faultfinding.

Have a look at the flowchart first, to understand which components could stop the pump from running. And since they are logically in series, any component in the chain could be the culprit.

Hi every one,a old timer told me to just clean the idle valve and change the gasket and O-ring ,I did it and now the air condition works right ,,  Thanks to you all
