Title: FD7000 Radio LCD Problem Post by brooksie on Jul 16th, 2010, 8:07pm There is no display showing. It came and went for a period and now it's gone completely. However the radio still worked. I had to disconnect the battery to do other work so consequently I cannot now re-enter the key code. Any ideas what may be the cause/solution? Thanks |

Title: Re: FD7000 Radio LCD Problem Post by Matt on Jul 16th, 2010, 8:53pm common fault on the 7000, the screen needs to be taken out and cleaned, however you can still enter the code buttons 1 - 4 select the code numbers and button 5 enters it, from memory the number code starts with 1 and ends with 0 |

Title: Re: FD7000 Radio LCD Problem Post by tonyboy on Jul 16th, 2010, 10:05pm I read a post once that when that happened he put the display in the freezer overnight and that cured it. Maybe someone will verify it............... |

Title: Re: FD7000 Radio LCD Problem Post by Tenfut on Jul 16th, 2010, 10:16pm I did the opposite on my spare 7000. No display, put it in the airing cupboard for a couple of days and bingo, display returned. It is however possible to enter the code without the display so long as you are confident you have the correct code. Tony |

Title: Re: FD7000 Radio LCD Problem Post by Mike H on Jul 17th, 2010, 3:47pm Yes quite often damp, i.e. condensation, messes up LCD's. Just needs a thorough dry out. Although the edge contact connectors can play up as well. |

Title: Re: FD7000 Radio LCD Problem Post by brooksie on Jul 19th, 2010, 8:59am Thanks for all the info. It's cured - for the moment. I cleaned the contacts on both the take-off button panel and main fascia behind it with electrical contact cleaner, as well as spraying it into the buttons and operating them a number of times too. I left the take-off panel to thoroughly dry out and the display came back on immediately. |
