It must be a Granada BOA engine, you need an old belt to put on the pulley, then twist it and pinion it onto a purchase point on the engine.Find an open ended spanner to fit the fan boss and whack it undone with a preferably soft hammer, the thread will be left hand or the fan would tend to run off when the engine is running.

I had the same problem when I took a V6 Sierra engine to bits...Ooops.
I removed the water pump and clamped the impeller in a vice then put a spanner on the fan to water pump coupling whle holding the fan steady. There is a special spanner for this job which you can find on ebay from time to time.
Think it is a left hand thread from memory ???

Thermo Viscous fan eh ?....got one of them on my MK1 Granny & had them on my old MK4/MK5 Cortinas & MK3 Capri.

Scorpio_Mike is correct.....they have a left hand thread  :)
