Hi.I think my problem is a mechanical one. My tailgate suddenly doesn't lock. At first I thought there was an obstruction, (i.e. dogs towl). I lifted the tailgate and closed the lock by hand, but with only very slight finger pressure, it snapped open again. Is this something that can be rectified easily?

Perhaps it needs adjusting. Have a read of This page (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/tailgate.htm) and see if that helps.

Thanks Simmo, but that's not the problem. The catch part simply won't stay closed. I wondered if a spring has come loose inside or a piece has broken off. I tried to unscrew the two torx screws but couldn't shift them. I'll try to get more leverage on them.
