Title: Help Failed MOT Post by david1003 on Sep 9th, 2010, 8:26pm My 1998 cossie failed its MOT today due to a high Lambda reading all other emission readings were very low. Anyone got any ideas what the problem could be? The engine was running very roughly at low idle something I had not heard before. |

Title: Re: Help Failed MOT Post by scorpio_man on Sep 9th, 2010, 9:00pm hi there could be a faulty lambda sensor (there's 4 of them, but it'll be one of the front 2) or an air leak somewhere, but that should knock out your emissions. hth |

Title: Re: Help Failed MOT Post by david1003 on Sep 9th, 2010, 9:12pm I had just had a new o/s cat fitted but guy doing test said that wouldn't affect the lean running of engine. He seemed to think it could possibly be an air leak as i had sensors replaced last year. if it is air leak where do i look? |

Title: Re: Help Failed MOT Post by Matt on Sep 12th, 2010, 6:04pm have you had any work done on the top of the engine? theres a very brittle plastic T piece that always snaps, if not try the 3 inlet rubber joining hoses on the manifold, ive know them to leak |

Title: Re: Help Failed MOT Post by david1003 on Sep 15th, 2010, 3:48pm Garage couldn't find anything wrong and it passed lambda test on their machine so took it back for retest. And the bloody thing decided to empty contents of it's radiator all over his lovely clean MOT bay. So he failed it again as test wasn't completed. NOT MY DAY |
