Title: mot failure, advice need Post by thesnake505 on Sep 27th, 2010, 7:31pm hay guys, first time posting, i own a 1997 ford scorpio 24v v6, it has recently failed its mot most of which isnt a problem, however it failed on emmisions and im unsure what to do the co levels are high, but the hydrocarbons are normal, this makes me beilve its running rich, originally the garage told me it needed a pair of cats, however i plugged it in to the obd2 set up i have, its very basic, give fault codes, but cant give lambda sensor reading the code it gave was P0174 System too Lean which after a quick search on the internet bought me to this page http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/maftest.htm i have cleaned the maf but didnt so any thing, am unsure of my next step, can this cause the co levels to be high on the car? or is a pair of cats the way forward? cheers for any help :D |

Title: Re: mot failure, advice need Post by Jonnycab on Sep 28th, 2010, 12:29am P0174 system too lean - bank No 2, points towards the post cat sensors....http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/codes.htm.....so it's possible the cats could be at fault :-/ Have you checked the plugs to see if they shows signs of running lean ? ...this may show the problem as being pre-cat :) |
