Title: Locked out Post by wbph on Oct 1st, 2010, 3:07am Both door locks failed, key fob not working, locked out. :o Help !!! Drivers lock failed some time ago, but the pass side was ok until yesterday when it just stopped working. Same problem both sides, lock up side seems ok, unlock side is just slack. Key fob had been giving trouble and the silver paper contact trick tried succesfully. Thats gone at the same time, and I cant get it operating. How can I get in? - anybody - please. |

Title: Re: Locked out Post by Mike H on Oct 1st, 2010, 11:37am FYI 1. the radio receiver for the key fob is turned off after 150 hours. = 6.25 days.... after that it don't respond no more 2. almost anything will turn the door lock in the locking direction, as the key cut-outs aren't used for that. They are only used in the unlock direction, where the wafers must line up to allow the locking rod to clear the step in the housing. It probably isn't "slack" just seems like it as it's often underestimated how far round it should normally go. Well I did. This sounds like key slot / wafer wear, have you got different keys to try? |

Title: Re: Locked out Post by wbph on Oct 1st, 2010, 11:46am 1 - used on Wednesday afternoon. Couldn't unlock it Thursday morning. 2 - just tried it through about 60+ degrees, just all slack, and that is using the spare key. Pushing absolutely nothing. Not prepared to force it too far. |

Title: Re: Locked out Post by Mike H on Oct 1st, 2010, 12:14pm Well if it's going all the way it must unlock, but there should be a spring pushing the key back, shouldn't be totally slack. Unless the internal tabs have all gone off the wafers? |
