??? Hi all, ihave a problem with my ultima 16v and i wonder if somebody could advise me?
Upon starting the car holds its revs and driving up the road will change up smoothly, then suddenly the revs will shoot up to 1600+ , especially when stationery there seems to be a surging like the car is hunting with the rev needle surging up and down. At a junction etc have to press down hard on the brake to stop the car shooting forward. Gearbox change is erratic, the box changes up after a time and then clunks into 2nd (like if the tc is gone) general driving there seems to be a delay in changing gears, like a flat spot.Yesterday when i started the car the revs shot straightn up to 16-1800+ with the engine surging.
Also od light keeps flashing and the oil light is on.
I have changed the maf and the idle control valve and a mechanic has checked for air leaks.
I would be grateful if anyone has any advice.

O/D flashing means transmission fault. Might be just bad gearbox wiring

Oil light shouldn't be on all the time! Is there engine oil in it? Could be a busted oil pressure switch or a short to ground on that wire

The "hunting" etc. sounds like broken throttle position sensor, but could be bad wires as well.
