Post by Scorp_Kev on Jan 2nd, 2011, 7:48am
Hi All. Can anyone tell me how to purchase a Master key for scorpio 1996. I have just bought the car with one key, but wish to create a spare. Cheers

Some Ford MD might stilll be able to help you but MOST auto locksmiths shoould be able to help.
I know one or two members now have the Ford WDS system which allows reprogramming of keys and they might be able to help.
I am sure others will be along to help soon.

Same  here - when I bought my Scorpio almost 4 years ago now it came with only 1 black key. I bought a blank red key and a blank black key from ebay thinking it would be easy to get them cut and programmed but was told it is something a FMD has to do....and so the blank keys remain uncut. The local places where you can get keys cut around here don't seem to have the kit to programme the keys.
Would be great to have a full set of keys.

Kev.
You will be able to find a lock place somewhere down there to clone you a spare key,but I wouldn't think they could make you a master key.

Thanks all for your input. I have emailed Timpsons to see if they can do it, and how much. A friends brother works for Dag motors here in Worthing. He is also going to find out about a replacement key, but told it may be expensive. C'mon Timpsons.

Hi Kev, yes this key can be duplicated at Worthing; the price would start at £35.00 but can go up to around £75.00 depending on the chip (transponder) in your key.

Does this mean a new red key can be cloned from an existing black key ?

A cloned key is just a copy of the existing key.

I just have the black key that was with the car & a cloned one, I didn't bother getting a master.

If you can get to Lincolnshire with

one of these cut to mechanicaly fit your car

Providing the PATS system has no faults  i can program a red master  key to your car for a donation to the site
