Fan belt (auxillary drive belt?) just broken. Any quick ideas to fix it to get it home. About half a mile away but steering is affected and 5 corners to turn. Granada Scorpio Estate 1998 Automatic.

For just half a mile I'd try driving it (?)

If the engine is hot I would let it go cold first before driving it.
The belt also drives the water pump so if engine is already hot no water circulating may cook it.

Thank you, just needs to get it to the garage a mile away, has waited for it to cool down and put in water and all the necessary and has just gone to try to get it to garage.
