Title: LPG conversion (Now won't idle) HELP
Post by michaelelise on Mar 7th, 2011, 5:00pm
Hi all,

I brought a ford scorpio 2.9 24v it failed an MOT badly I have the same car year, engine etc. I have transferred the LPG system over on to my car tank wiring etc taking care to note where everything went. I installed it this weekend again taking care making sure everything went back as it came out of the other car (i swopped the manifolds over to make it eaisier). Now the problem I have is the car will not idle on starting on petrol it keeps idling very very lumpy. I have disconnected the earth and the live from the battery from the LPG to see if it would idle better and it would not. Has anyone got any ideas what I can look for?
I have cleaned the MAF and the RPM's are still like 200-300 and idling very very lumpy.

Kind Regards

Michael

Sounds like an air leak.

Spray some easy start around the inlet manifolds/any unions you've worked on.  if the rev's rise when you spray the easy start then you have an air leak in that place.

Did you change the spark plugs over? Or even re- gap the original ones.

Thanks all,

It was just a trapped outer cable cover under the left inlet manifold. All sorted now to get the gas certificated!! Then cooking on gas.

Kind Regards

So was that causing an air leak?
