Title: Not strictly a Scorpio but a FORD Clutch?
Post by bonnietiler on Mar 25th, 2011, 4:36pm
Hi, I'm battling here with this Racing Puma, it uses a fairly standard 1.7 zetec puma gearbox/clutch. Last September, off it went for its MOT and it passed....after some repairs that is...the gearbox and clutch worked beautifully. Now then 6 months later after some vigorous maintainance, brake discs front and rear and alot of cosmetic stuff...nothing at all though in the gearbox/clutch area.
I fired it up this AM, depressed the clutch it did not want to go in any gear, clutch felt fine though...hmmm. turned off the engine, put it in reverse (engine off) no problem, started engine with clutch depressed and the clutch works perfectly, try and change gear...won't have it. The car creeps ever so slightly with the clutch fully depressed.
What is going on here!
The Scorpio works perfectly of course...sigh...

is there a clutch fluid reservoir on the Puma?

Sounds similar to what I had once in a Cortina! ;D

One of the springs had popped out the clutch plate and was stopping it from disengaging.

It uses the brake fluid reservoir (it's split between the brakes and the clutch)
Do you think that the slave could have failed and have sloshed a little fluid onto the plate?
