Title: Re: stereo Post by Baz on Apr 12th, 2011, 8:15pm more than likely a dodgy internal component or a dodgy soldered joint that expands as the unit heats up. Swap the unit with a replacement and see if it still does the same..... |

Title: Re: stereo Post by rich1 on Apr 16th, 2011, 7:35pm hi mike , yes when im a long trip , it switches off after an hour when i had a transit a few years ago and i turned the radio on without the ignition on it would display "1hour" i assume in case you walk off leaving it on , it wouldnt drain th battery .but my car does it while driving ??? done a fair few miles this week being school holidays and it goes off every hour without fail. not a major problem , just bugging me a bit simmo , i will see if i can do as you suggested cheers lads |

Title: Re: stereo Post by Mike H on Apr 19th, 2011, 11:05am That's deffo not right, if it's turned on then all the time ign is on I or II, it should stay on. Must be faulty I'm guessing it's turning off sooner now only 'cause the weather is warmer, so yes is heat related If you leave it on with ign on I yes it will drain the battery! |

Title: Re: stereo Post by Mike H on Apr 19th, 2011, 11:07am PS: AFAIK the standard stereo units as were fitted to Scorpios didn't have a time-out facility ~ unless anyone else knows diferently (?) |

Title: Re: stereo Post by lesterlad aka Rodders on Apr 19th, 2011, 1:23pm What is classed as standard Mike ? With my 6000 cd (no changer in boot) if the ON button is pressed with the IGN OFF the radio will stay on for exactly 1 hour, however the stalk control is disabled it that mode. |

Title: Re: stereo Post by Highlander on Apr 22nd, 2011, 9:32am That may be the problem Rich, has it possibly been rewired? different radio at some point? |

Title: Re: stereo Post by Mike H on Apr 22nd, 2011, 10:22am My data only goes up to 2050, no obvious mention anywhere of them turning themselves off (?) FWIW (mine's a 2006) if it's on, goes off when ign off, comes back on next time ign turned on again http://livinginthepast-audioweb.co.uk/kbf/th_shrug.gif |

Title: Re: stereo Post by Highlander on Apr 22nd, 2011, 11:14am I'm forever leaving mine on while I work beside the car and it switches off after the hour |

That's correct, have you also tried pushing the on/off button while ign key is off/out ? It should come on then turn off after 1 hour (if the ign is not turned on in the meantime). |

Title: Re: stereo Post by Mike H on Apr 26th, 2011, 8:54pm Since you mention it, no I haven't tried that .. http://livinginthepast-audioweb.co.uk/images/misc/unsure.gif |

Title: Re: stereo Post by Andycan on Apr 27th, 2011, 11:18pm Thanks for the info I had tried that before and it hadn't worked but it has now so must have had a sticky button. The other problem is it turns itself on and off whenever it feels like it. It can't be a loose connection or broken wire because if it was it would ask for the code when it came back on wouldn't it? Un like others turning themselves off after a hour this might not come for 5 minutes or a 24 hours after the on button is pushed. Likewise it can turn itself off after 2 minutes or 5 hours even though the button is still on. I am begining to think I bought a scorpio with a ghost in it lol. |

Title: Re: stereo Post by Highlander on Apr 27th, 2011, 11:26pm I've heard of a Gost in a Scorpio? ;D |

Title: Re: stereo Post by Mike H on Apr 28th, 2011, 6:44pm Sounds rather like the power button contacts are 'intermittent' |

Title: Re: stereo Post by Andycan on May 4th, 2011, 3:12pm I think I found the problem on my stereo. When it turned itself off again today I pressed the security button surround and it came back on again so I hope it is just bad connections and that if I buy another panel it will sort it. |
