Title: Problem with front light
Post by birdman on May 3rd, 2011, 11:29am
For some reason all my front light have stopped working! They were working fine the night before (Saturday)  then when I went out Sunday I came to put them on and Nothing (Back lights are Ok)
I have checked to fuse boxes under the bonnet and all seem ok, but they wont even work on the Headlight Flash or Main beam!

Can anyone give me any suggestions Please

Hello and welcome  ;D

Is the drivers side fusebox multiplug located correctly?

Indicators and wipers working?

Dash lights working?

http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=admin;action=display;num=1267895931

Could also be the lightswitch though, they are known to burn out at the rear

Is this what originally caused it? Disturbing the plug?

An "N Reg Scorpio Ultima 16v Auto!"

As you have no doubt realised I haven't had it very long and am starting to discover a number of faults.
Which I am going to need parts for!! The list is growing daily!
To date I will have to replace the 'Ball Joints' either side, and the Gearbox cooling pipes on the near side where they come out/in to the Radiator. I also need a Hayns Book or similar and a copy of the Owners Hand book nither of which I have been able to sours yet.

But hay if this site is as good as and lives up to My first impressions, I will not have any problems

I think the Gods were looking over me yesterday when I search Google and found you!! lol  ;D

You won't find a Haynes manual, they never made one for the Scorpio ;D

Should be plenty owners handbooks around, the whole thing is available on the site too :

They are vaguely similar, some parts ARE interchangeable  but they are different cars.

The majority of the great unwashed out there (Even a lot of Ford Dealers) refer to Scorpios as "Granadas" they are not Granadas.

The confusion was caused by Ford themselves!

They called the 1985-94 car the Granada here in the UK but called it the Scorpio in the rest of Europe!

They then added a trim level to the Granada range called the "Granada Scorpio" and then in late 94 brought out the Scorpio as a new model!

In Europe they have the 1985-94 Scorpio l (Granada) and the 1994-98 Scorpio ll (Scorpio)

make any sense? ;D

You will come across all sorts of problems when ordering for parts as they will try and sell you Granada bits!  ;D

Your balljoints are integrated within a wishbone which is a Ford only part, there are no pattern parts available.

They are expensive new (£285 PLUS VAT per pair) from

http://www.fordpartsuk.com/shop/ford_scorpio_front_suspension_arm_kit_500.htm who will be cheaper than the Ford Dealers

Second hand ones come up often though fairly cheaply.

p.s. where are you located?

I live in Cheshire (Runcorn) the part I need I think is more to do with the Trackrod than the Ball joint though, I was told when I had the Steering rack replaced at a garage that the Ball Joints needed doing he showed them to me, I have since checked them out again it is the one that drops down like a stablising bar! with a 'Ball joint at the end! I will see if I can get a picture of them sometime!

Cool, I got the auto Exec version (base trim level) N reg as well, luvverly motors they are, if they're working properly ;D

Last year finally got to the bottom of the transmission and fuelling issues (that's the trouble with not having books to look things up in, ehnce this forum), basically down to worn out MAF, nacked cat and clogged up exhaust. I.e. not been looked at properly for a while. Goes like the proverbial train now ;D
