Title: Dual tone horn location
Post by RichKavanagh on Jun 30th, 2011, 9:27am
Hi everyone.

My horn seems to have lost one of its tones.  Don't use it that often but I'd swear it was a 'two tone' horn!

All I hear now is the high note, no low note horn.

The question is, where on Earth are they hiding?! ???

The horns a amazingly cheap, probably not from Lord Ford though  ::) they just seize up with age and are irreparable, but check the wiring first of course.

No wonder I couldnt see it anywhere :)

Will run +12v to it and see what happens!

Not to be confused with the alarm horn, which is somewhere else. ;D That is right isn't it?

I always understood the alarm horn to be situated behind the battery.

Little update for you.

The wiring checked ok with +12v coming out to each horn so I cleaned up the connections and the low-tone sprang back in to life.

Thanks again!

One of the first things I do on every Scorpio is to pull the wire off the alarm horn!  ;D
